Hurricane Milton Update #4
Air Force reserve hurricane hunters find that Hurricane Milton’s intensity has rebounded. Milton is currently located 520 miles southwest of Tampa with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph, moving east/northeast at 8 mph. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Florida’s east coast from the Indian River/St. Lucie County Line northward to Ponte Vedra Beach. A Storm Surge Watch is in effect for South of Port Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet
Community Updates:
- There will be no Fitness Classes on Thursday, October 9, Friday, October 10.
- Dress code for SH Cranes will be lifted until further notice.
- If you are an apartment resident and have a golf cart, you can leave your cart in the apartment parking lot for the duration of the storm. There is no need to relocate it.
- If you plan on relocating your car to the Valencia Landing Clubhouse parking lot, do not park in the spaces in the front (west side) of the building. Please use the spots in the north and south side of the building closest to the pool and tennis courts.
- The Jaques Clubhouse will be closed at noon on Wednesday, October 9.
- Village updates will be posted to JohnKnox.com/News for friends and family to keep up to date on our community. They can be found under the Hurricane Updates category. Links to the updates will be posted on the John Knox Facebook page.
- If you plan on relocating to another residence for the duration of the storm, please contact Tina at main reception to let her know of where you will be located during the storm.
- The entrances to the Audubon apartments on the parking lot side as well as the poolside will be closed starting on Wednesday at approximately 4 p.m. to help prevent water encroachment into the building.
- If you have any loose or hanging items around your residence, please take them indoors.
- Make sure to close screen doors.
- The Barker Center and the Library will close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in order for us to set up shelter space for staff.
- The bus trip to Renningers Antique Center originally scheduled for Friday has been canceled.
- The Cornhole Tournament originally scheduled for Friday, October 11 has been postponed until Friday, October 18. Rounds will take place at 9:00 a.m., 9:45 a.m., and the Championship at 10:30 a.m.
- Today’s Hurricane edition of Chat with Joe will be replayed tonight as well as tomorrow morning on Knox TV channel 3. It can also be can be viewed on our YouTube Channel. A link is also posted to the resident portal.
