JKV Photo Contest

In May, a photo contest was held to challenge our residents to show off the natural beauty and wildlife of the community. More than 80 photos were submitted in six categories comprised of flowers untouched, flowers improved, scenic untouched, scenic improved, animals untouched and animals improved.

A panel of resident judges rated each anonymous submission on a scale of 1 to 5 for focus, exposure, lighting, creative use of subject, composition and uniqueness. The photos were also shared on the JKV Facebook page to allow our followers to choose their favorite, which is featured on the cover of this issue.

Congratulations to our winners!

First Place – Flower Category

Sally Hardy submitted this photo and won the judges approval in the untouched flower category (Left). First place winner in the flowers improved category. Tom Harmon took first place with his flower photo. Tom made improvements to the photo after he took the picture, so he entered it in the improved category. (Right)

First Place – Scenic Category

Glendine Hamilton won first place in the scenic untouched category with her photo of Lake Fountain (Right). Tom Harmon placed first in three categories. His photo of “Peg’s Yard” was selected for the scenic improved category (Left).

First Place – Animals Category

First place winner in the animals untouched category was taken by Charlotte Pratt (Right). Tom Harmon’s photo of a new crane family was chosen for first place winner in the animals improved category.

Most “Liked” – Facebook Fan

The July/August cover photo of Village Life magazine feature a photo submitted by resident
Sally Hardy for the JKV photo contest. The photo was the most “liked” on the
JKV Facebook page.
