On August 8, the residents of John Knox Village of Central Florida donated $1,800 as well as school supplies to Orange City Elementary. This is the fifth year, that the residents of John Knox Village have coordinated a donation to the school.
One of the supply drive organizers, resident Ann Gillis, stated “I’m proud to be a part of John Knox Village. I am really impressed at how our residents have responded so generously to the call to help our neighbor, Orange City Elementary. The program has grown tremendously over the years to the point where people ask me when they can donate.”
“It is wonderful to see how our residents have adopted the students of Orange City Elementary. Whether it is donating supplies or volunteering their time at the school, it is a positive way to show just how active our residents are within our community,” said Joseph Trainor, John Knox Village Chief Administrative Officer.
Besides raising $1,800, the residents of the village donated backpacks, sneakers, shorts and polo shirts. In addition to the supplies, residents of John Knox Village are coordinating opportunities for its residents to serve as volunteers at Orange City Elementary.
