Tapestry and Me

By Resident Joan Furci

Tapestry and Me invites you to explore a variety of colorful fibers to create patterns and designs with a tapestry needle on a small warped loom.
A tapestry loom, hand-crafted by Joan and Frank Furci, and fibers/yarns are provided for each weaver.

Lessons are offered the first weeks to experiment with your selected colorful wefts (fibers) as you weave them under and over the warp on your loom. You will practice new skills for personal self-expression without having to follow the lead or pace of others.

For seniors, artistic expression offers an opportunity for us to utilize all of our senses as we stimulate the growth of a healthier brain in our quest for lifelong learning. A John Knox Village weaver can create a pillow for a favorite couch, a wall-hanging to display collected treasures, a coaster for a favorite mug, or a holiday decoration.

Tapestry and Me meets every Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Lake Fountain Vista Room on the second floor in the Bay Building. Contact Joan Furci for additional information.
