Protective Actions Taken

June 23, 2020 4:00 p.m.

It is the policy of John Knox Village that all stakeholders, care givers, vendors, and residents should wear a mask under the following conditions:

  • Anytime when in resident areas (This includes but not limited to a resident home, dining areas, hallways, activity areas, and so on);
  • Anytime you are in the same area as residents;
  • Cooking and preparing food;
  • Delivering food.

The mask should cover your mouth and your nose at all times.

In order to protect yourself as well as our community, we are asking residents and staff to contact the resident nurse at 775-3840 ext. 1407 when:

  • You test positive for COVID-19 – immediate quarantine until two consecutive negative tests.
  • You have had exposure to someone who has test positive – Immediate quarantine until test results are received.
  • You have had exposure to someone who has had exposure to someone who had tested positive – Immediate quarantine until tests results received.
  • Your physician or other practitioner sends you for a test – immediate quarantine until test results received.
  • You elect to be tested – immediate quarantine until test results received.

If quarantining/self-isolating use the following guidelines:

  • Pending Results: 
    • You and your spouse shall remain in your home for 14 days or until negative tests results are received.
    • Approval must be received to be removed from quarantine
  • Positive Results:
    • You and your spouse shall remain in your home until two consecutive negative tests results are received.
    • Approval must be received to be removed from quarantine
  • Walking Dog – behind your home – NO dog park or walking in village

We will be sending out a survey on Friday, June 26 by VOLO asking residents to notify us of their preference for visitations outside verses inside the village.

Option One – Visitation outside the village

•         Family & Friends

•         No contact with residents on JKV Campus

•         Strong recommendation to use mask outside the village

•         Strong recommendation to use hand sanitizer for hands

•         Must follow guidelines

•         May go shopping and go to doctor’s appointments

•         Must share with neighbors your selection

•         Must track activity everyday

•         Must provide own transportation for shopping and doctor’s appointments

Option Two – Visitation inside the village

•           JKV Residents

•           No outside visitors

•           No in person contact with outside for more than 15 minutes

•           May go shopping and to doctors office visits

•           Must use mask

•           Must use hand sanitizer for hands

•           Must follow guidelines

•           Must track exposure everyday

If you decide to change from Option 1 (Outside Visitation) to Option 2 (Inside Visitation), you must:

•           Quarantine yourself for 14 days

•           Notify us of your change in selection

•           Receive approval to be removed from quarantine

When making your selection, consider the following questions in relation to visiting a beauty salon or barber. Your answer needs to be “YES” to all the following questions to be able to use offsite salon services and select option 2:

•         Will you be wearing a mask?

•         Will the people working in the salon wearing a mask?

•         Does the salon properly sanitize between customers?

•         Will you refrain from touching unnecessary surfaces such as newspapers

magazines, and other paper items? 

•         Do they restrict access to the salon including the waiting area to less than

10 people?

•         Do they maintain appropriate social distancing/social spacing?

•         Do you carry hand gel to sanitize your hands after touching any surfaces?

If you are not feeling well, regardless of the symptoms, please contact the resident nurse at extension 1407.

Please continue to wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. Avoid touching your face, and make sure to clean and wipe down frequently touched surfaces, and maintain a safe distance of 6 feet between you and others.
